msm Surrey and Sussex

Saturday, 18 September, 2010

You are invited to share a learning journey in a supportive community to be equipped for a lifetime of good practice and learning in growing fresh expressions of church.

Your local course

The Diocese of Chichester, South Eastern Baptist Association, Salvation Army London South East Division, South East District of the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church Southern Synod are delighted to make msm available locally. We believe it will be a significant resource for the building of the Kingdom of God in this area.

Individuals are most welcome, but we particularly hope that small groups from a church or fresh expression will come as this will deepen the impact of the course.

Commendations

Fresh expressions of Church are an increasing feature of the Christian landscape. The msm course is a valuable tool to encourage theological reflection and good practice in ministry. I do commend it both to those already involved in Fresh Expressions and those in the process of discerning whether this it the right step for them.

Rt Revd John Hind, Diocese of Chichester

If church as we've known it has failed to connect with 90% of the population, then it's time we were prepared to look at things differently. The msm course offers the opportunity to engage in new concepts, or fresh expressions of church which will connect with some of those people we are missing.

Revd Stuart Davison, South Eastern Baptist Association

I am delighted to hear that there is to be a mission shaped ministry course in Sussex and Surrey. Such courses do a great deal to prepare the Church and those called to leadership within it for the massive task of bringing the Good News of Jesus to a generation that is not currently listening or interested. Of course the message hasn’t changed, and neither have the essential means by which people come under the powerful and loving shadow of Christ. But exploring fresh ways to help this generation encounter the Lord in his Word, know him in the breaking of bread, discover the joy of a life of service, and experience his personal love is a beautiful, essential and noble task, that will surely bring joy to the Father’s heart.

Rt Revd Lindsay Urwin, Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham
